The very first incarnation of my website was created in the Summer of 2000, after I finished my A Levels. It was a monstrosity of a webshite, with disgusting busy backgrounds and neon green text, cartoon dolls and bad midi files all thrown together on Yahoo Geocities PageBuilder. Over the following months, I honed my skills and toned down the look of the site a bit, finally deciding to redesign and relaunch as version 2, this time complete with brand new domain name www.little-miss-alien.co.uk
Version 2 was launched in the November of 2001. Again, it was far from great. Lavender background colour with darker purple text, blinkies, an awful self-drawn rollover banner, bad angsty poetry and all awkwardly contained within frames. I made it with FrontPage 2000, oh I thought I was so l33t!
I updated this site over the course of 2 years, working up to version 3 and finally pulling it down before renewing my domain again, with the intention of rehauling it and again relaunching as version 4. However, by early 2004 I had become more active socially, and updating was low down on the list of priorities. It never got off the ground.
The kicker came when I renewed my domain again last November, 4 years on. I knew it was pointless to keep spending money on hosting and a domain name when I didn't even have a front page to my site. So I decided that come hell or high water I would update my site and launch version 5 asap.
It's now June, and it's only just up. But then, I've had uni to deal with, as well as now having a job and a social life. But this is something important. I'd like to have my own little home on the web, and I'd like to make it comfy and cosy for you all. Hopefully you will like it and take a look around. I'm still working on my skillset, but I think I'm adequate at making a nice site without a single <frame> or retina-scorching backdrop in sight now!
